A records page is one of the more fun pages on any football site to build, and one of the easiest to misuse. A biggest-win margin or a longest unbeaten run is a genuinely real, verifiable fact — but on its own it's a snapshot of one moment, not a description of where a team stands right now.

Records describe the past, ratings describe the present

The team statistics page's ratings update continuously, weighted toward recent matches. The records on this page are fixed the moment they're set — a biggest win stays the biggest margin until something bigger happens, regardless of how either team has played since.

Streaks are real, but they end

A long unbeaten run is a genuine, hard-earned statistical fact — and also a streak that, by definition, will end at some point. Reading it as evidence a team has been performing well over a specific stretch is the more useful way to use it than reading it as evidence a team can't lose.

Single-match records versus sustained-run records

This page mixes two genuinely different kinds of record. A single-match record — the biggest win, the highest-scoring fixture — is a peak that may not repeat. A sustained-run record — a defensive record or scoring tally across many matches — reflects a level a team has maintained over real time, generally the more reliable indicator of current level.

Minimum sample and scope

Streak and run records only draw from teams with at least 5 real tracked matches — a "longest unbeaten run" built from a team with only one or two real matches isn't a meaningful signal. This page covers popular domestic leagues only, for consistency with the team, league, and player statistics pages.

How often these update

Records update the moment a new mark is set, rather than on a fixed schedule — this page can change meaningfully after a single weekend if a genuinely standout result comes in.
